Ye Olde CodeStore
If there were an imaginary town called Lotus, where would codestore fit in? As an antiques and curiosities shop perhaps? A museum of times gone by? The oldest building in town kept standing through preservation orders and grants from the government whilst getting in the way of progress.
What you on about Jake?
Well, there's a charity effort underway pre-LotusSphere to raise money for the Children's Cancer Association. It's the idea of Bruce Elgort and the London Developer Co-Op.
As I understand it there's a raffle to be held on UK night at LotusSphere and one of the prizes is a copy of the following pixel-art poster of Lotus World.
The little building you can see revealed in one corner is where I live and is called "Ye Olde Codestore".
It would be too easy to read in to why I'm on the outskirts of town in an olde worlde shoppe, so I won't. I have it on good authority it wasn't their intention to make it appear this way ;-) Not that I would mind either way.
Anyway, you can read more about the whole effort here and donate using the button below. They're only after $10! Go on, do it!
Thanks for the post Jake, and no, it was certainly NOT meant as an insult to the amazing work you've put in over the years. More a nod to the venerable Codestore being the very first :-)

I wouldn't have been insulted, as most of what could be read in to it is true. Codestore *is* a museum of times gone by ;-)
Either way, I'm just glad to be there at all! I feel a bit lost at the moment, so at least I have somewhere I know I belong.

just add my voice to Bens, i think you would find if your came to the any of the lugs that your far from being a "museum of times gone by"

Look at it this way Jake... At least it hasn't been bulldozed down to build a car-park or cinema complex. Perhaps because even though there is a movement towards XPages the tools & techniques provided by codestore are still of immense value for those not able to use XPages or simply choose not to use it. Perhaps the people that continue to use codestore (or have in the past) will consider donating $10 to a worthy cause as part-payment for the immense value codestore has (and continues) to provide.

In the image the old house seems like a stylish and peaceful corner of quality in the midst of superficial, rushed concrete. I'd know where I would want to live.

basically there is no difference Jake between the the sky scraper next to your "Ye Olde Codestore".
The sky scraper has a basic steel framework and your "Ye Olde Codestore" looks like
a tudor half timbered building and they were built with a SOLID oak or elm framework.
Perhaps there is some connection between them and a good computer program
that I suspect needs a good solid framework?
PS you could liven this site up by allowing people to post photo's
then i could add a photo of the great bonfire I've had today on my allotment, far more fun than sitting in an office.
as ever dad

Ok, who's pretending to be my dad!?
Hang on. IP address matches. Dad, is that you? That's probably the most sensible thing I've heard you say in 35 years.
Perhaps poor analogies are hereditary?
Send me the photo of you bonfire and I'll post it on here if you like.
