New Arrival
The joke was going to be that my new baby, Trevor, arrived at 3:50pm on Sunday, weighing in at a quite surprising 27lbs. Trevor being, of course, the Trek I went to pick up from Chester last Sunday. Then I realised it's not that funny and I shouldn't bother. Not to mention I'd never call my child Trevor. Although some of you might think our choice of names just as controversial. More on that later.
So, yeah, I went to pick up the new bike, Trevor The Trek II:
So far I've only had chance to get out a couple of times but love it already. It's a great ride and makes me wonder how I ever managed with just front suspension, V-brakes and such narrow handlebars for so long. Can't wait to get it out on to some serious trails and test it out.
As for the real baby we're still waiting. Like with the bike I'm getting impatient for its delivery. Hopefully the baby won't be like the bike, which missed it's due date by about a month, and will arrive on or around its due date of a week tomorrow. Everything's ready and the nursery just needs tailoring to whichever gender it might be. Needless to say I'm a little excited by it all.
You have a whole week to enjoy it! ;-)
That's the last 'essential' personal purchase that you're going to make for a lonnnnnnng time!
Good luck for the immediate future.
Enjoy the bike as much as you can now. After your baby is born you will not have much chance to enjoy it. I use to ride a couple hundred of miles a week. After my two kids, my Trek has been sitting in the basement for the past few years. Congratulations on both.
I look forward to the middle-of-the-night CodeStore postings that are about to start ;)
I remember a bike trip in Northern Ireland and how useless my v-brakes were in the rain (why we went in late October is still a mystery).
Nice look ride
So where is the picture of the baby basket on the back of that bike? :) Not quite prepared just yet.
good luck with the baby!!!!
You may want one of these come next summer.

I see lots of folks with these in the parks around here, especially in the late spring when the temperature is nice for the little ones. Not so good for a trail ride, but great for a nice smooth park path.
I remember when my son was little, I would but him in the detatchable baby seat and we would ride all over. It was great.
It's funny as Karen and I were talking about these buggies that trail behind bikes the other day after we'd seen one on the road. Karen agreed with me when I said I'd never use one on the roads. Off-road in parks maybe, but never on a road.
I could talk for ages about my issues with cycling on the roads here in the UK, but won't. Suffice to say it's just *not* safe. Great idea though and look like great fun for the kids.
When I used to walk Quinn to school in the morning I'd see a lady taking her kid to school in one along the busy road the school was on. There'd be no end of huge great lorry screaming past them lliterally inches away. Not for me thanks. I don't mind putting my own life on the line whenever I venture on to our madcap roads, but not a child's life. Motorists just don't have the time or respect for cyclists and everybody is in such a rush to get everywhere nowadays.
Careful Jake - you'll open a debate of Bike's 'v' Cars etc... - anyway as a fellow MTB'er I hope you enjoy your new bike. Though I've not managed to get out on mine for 5 weeks due to holiday and illness, I'm getting rather restless. *sigh*
Jake,
You're life is about to change to an extent that you know not!!! LOL Best wishes to you and your wife as you start a new phase in your life.
Oh yes, remember, life starts with three...
Kind Regards,
Dennis
Another mountain biking domino developer ! What are the chances of that ? Nice bike by the way and good luck with the new arrival.
