Notes.net Forum RSS
It's not very often that something noteworthy and useful happens at Notes.net. However, I recently noticed they've added an RSS feed to the forum, which is nice. I've now started hanging out there again. I've only managed one response so far, but it's a start.
It's been so long since I logged in to the forum that I've not only forgotten my login, but also which email address I might have used to get it. I've had to re-register as Jake Howlett2. Original.
I used to spend a lot of time at the forums. So much so that I was voted in to the Member Spotlight (I've still got the mug downstairs), which I think has since been abolished. It got to the point where this site needed all my time though and I just stopped visiting. Since then I've relied on my disciples to do the work for me. A search for codestore at the forums shows how people still get referred here even now thanks to them spreading the word.
Most of my time at the forum used to be spent posting nothing but links to articles on this site, which is what my disciples do now. Call it shameless self promotion if you will, but it was an effective way to let people know about this site. People soon realised they could fnd lots of answers here and visitor numbers rocketed. That was years ago though and I've always been aware that there must still be developers unaware I'm here. With a little help from my disciples hopefully I'll be able to help out a new breed of developer.

I discovered codestore thanks to your "Member Spotlight". I never knew Lotus gave mugs... A bit cheap, no ? It's like the CLP pins...

Mug? I didn't get no steenkeeng mug! And I noticed that my name isn't as prominent in the search link as it might have been. Falling down on the job, I guess. Sorry.
Visit Cafepress. You can make yourself all the mugs you like. Though fitting the new and improved name for CLP on one might be a challenge. What is it now? "Official IBM Certified Lotus and Domino Technology Professional"? Maybe that's why they stopped giving mugs?
Buying trinkets is not quite like getting corporate swag, especially as an award of sorts. I have a lot of shirts, but there's something special about the "I tipped Lotus Advisor" tee. Sure, nobody here in Outer Podunk knows what it means, but I do. And it wasn't because I'd submitted a tip, as such -- I simply wrote an email to Scott Good to fill in a blank he'd left in one of his JavaScript articles, and next thing I knew it was there in the magazine with my name on it.
Same deal with the Spotlight thing -- being one of the first members selected (after Jess, Jake and, if I recall correctly, Doug Finner) gave me a severe case of the warm 'n' fuzzies 'cos it came from the community. The Spotlight has gone away since, and it would have been nice to have a trinket to look at when the blackness hits me and the void is calling. (Thanks to Richard O'Brien for the last bit.)
re: Notes.net RSS feed. Have you noticed the text in their XML <description> line is limited to 104 characters. There are not enough words in the item description to work out if the full article is worth reading. Kind of defeats the purpose of an XML feed.
