Not often you find freeware this good

In one of Volker's posts today he says:

I love software like this: simple little utilities that do one thing well. And it's even better when it's free.

By chance, I was going to say something very similar today. No need now as Volker's done it so well, and in one sentence. The application I had in mind is called LDAP Browser. No need to explain what it does. Just take a look at the screenshots. There aren't many freeware applications that look as good and work as well as this does.

I found it last month when I was struggling with Domino. Now, as I mentioned yesterday, I am likely to be working with LDAP again. Hence, LDAP Browser is likely to come in handy again. A definite must-have for my web developer's toolbox. Anybody got any others they want to share?

    I have looked at the LDAP Browser before but it wouldn't work with Domino's LDAP. Does it now?

    It worked for me David. No reason it shouldn't, as LDAP is a standard protocol. The fact that Domino didn't work says more about Domino than it does this appp. I would say that though, wouldn't I ;-)

    I'd have to say my favorite little freeware utility is Pixie. ({Link}

    It's a nice little color code grabber. It shows the color under your mouse pointer, and allows you to copy the color code for it to the clipboard with a simple keystroke.

  2. I highly recomend LDAP Browser\Editor made by Jarek Gawor, {Link}

    It is a great Java based tool that I use daily to query our Exchange servers.

    Best of luck.

  3. Heck, Jake, I WOULD recommend Artgem! from rlVision, but they had to stop offering it for lack of registered users. :-( Sad really- awesome image editor.

    First the Amiga, then the Pontiac Fiero, and now Artgem... why do I consistenly pick the lame horse!!??

    ;-)
