Enjoying the sun while it lasts
Ever had the conversation with your mates about what you'd do if you won The Lottery? I remember a couple of times when people have actually said they would get bored and want to go back to work. Surely not. Not having a job is truly liberating. Especially when the weather is as good as it is at the moment. You have all the time in the world to do as much as you like. Obviously I don't have millions of pounds at my disposal but I am still enjoying it. Still, I am growing more and more aware of my need to start looking for work some time soon.
Yesterday was a gorgeous day. I spent most of it in Yorkshire. First we went along with my cousin, Richard, to look at a wind turbine he is thinking of buying. Quite interesting to get close to and learn about something I only ever normally view from a distance. In the afternoon we called in my Aunt and Uncle on our way back to Mansfield. I've not been there for a few years and it seems to continually change. Amazing to think that 12 years ago I was a young lad working his summer holidays helping to convert the place from an old cattle barn.
Today I have been in mental and physical preparation. Tomorrow I am taking the bike up to Derbyshire and riding a trail that takes you round Lady Bower Reservoir. The one they used to the test the Dambusters' Bouncing Bombs. Should be fun.
On Thursday my parents are driving me back to Sunderland and will be staying overnight. They want to see where I live and visit some of the local attractions.
Hence I am away from the PC for at least the whole of this week. Chances of me doing any blogging about anything other than what I am up to the photos I take is fairly small. You've been warned. Ain't no Domino here for a while.
Can you mail me the details of that route Jake? I am mad for biking!
PS I echo the sentiment about not working. Life is short. By all means, keep the brain occupied, but there are a lot more pertinent exercises for this than code pushing!
Jake,
While I was at Palm Springs (Devcon 2002) I had the opportunity to see the HUGE wind turbine farms out there.
Also visited the Joshua Tree Natl Park. HEre are some pictures of the wind turbine farms and some awesome natural rock formations.

Thanks for that Dan. Will send it to my cousin who loves anything wind powered.
James, I will scan in the route. It's from one of the mountain bike magazines. Can't remember if it's this month's or not. Don't know if I would recommend the route either. Too many stones on the tracks. Like riding in a dry river-bed.
Added more pictures. Disregard the original link. Here's the new one:

Take care !
