Mistakes In The View's Article

Can you believe it's been over a year since I wrote the first of my articles on sending mail from Notes in HTML format? I bring this up because in this month's View Journal Mark Roden has an article published called Simple Methods for Creating HTML-Formatted E-mail in Domino Web Applications and Scheduled Agents. You can download the working database from this page. In it there's an interesting alternative to my approach. There is also an introduction to the new LotusScript method in Domino 6 called CreateMIMEEntity which all but negates the need for my articles in the first place. Oh well.

For anybody who has read the article I would like to point out, on behalf of myself and Mark, that there's been a mixup by the editors. They made it appear as though Mark thought all my methods rely on the WinSock32 DLL. He didn't and they don't. Only this one does.

Thanks to Tom Breuker for letting me know about the article and for sending me his improvements to my Java code. Tom's added the ability to include attachments in mail and inline images. Brilliant. I will share it with you as soon as we've got the code 100% just so... and with it the welcome return of some articles ;o)

I worked with Mark at ICI in the North East in one of his previous lives. He was one of the fastest coders I've ever worked with. A smart guy, if only everyone else in my group had been smart enough to know what he was going on about.

Too bad he's moved stateside... still with Jake in the NorthEast now, his Notes Dev crown would have been in serious danger anyway.

Nice to see Jaap here from time to time too. Another ICI Notes evangelist. One of the very few left...

    Tim.
