New Office Finished
For what I promise will be the last time, here's a photo of the office/study I've been working on. It's come a long way from being Karen's cluttered storage room.
What it cost in the end:
- Laminate flooring - £110 (B&Q)
- Plastering - £100 (Bill from down road)
- Desk - £146 (Ikea)
- Chair - £99 (Office World)
- Shelves - £29 (Ikea)
- Picture Frames - £45 (Ikea)
- Light shade - £35 (Ikea)
- Whiteboard - £30 (Office World)
Not bad for just under £600 (~US$1000). At least now I have somewhere I can actually sit and use all the PCs as they're meant to be. It also means I am now ready to dedicate a whole load of times to the site. Something I've neglected for the past few months. Prepare for a whole host of treats coming your way.
It's fair to say the room is all but finished now - just a few finishing touches here and there. Hey, maybe I should get myself a job on a home make-over show like Big Strong Boys. Talking of which, I went to see The Matrix Reloaded last week. Don't know why as I don't even like the first film. Anyway, halfway through, Karen turns to me to say "Those twins used to be on Better Homes with Carol Vorderman!". Not wanting to get in to a discussion in the middle of the film I just gave her a look of disbelief and forgot about it. Turns out she was right!!

I've never actually met him but I am pretty sure you're right. Anybody who can only fit you in after 6pm or on the weekend is a little dodgy if you ask me.

ere, we won't ave you casting no nasturtiums on me working practices. True, I don't pay much tax or insurance but I lern't how to avoid it from some computer 'consultant'
an that laminated flooring is not as great as folks rave on about like unless your missus likes lots of cleaning.
Bill, at least you can feel safe with your job security. What have us computer types got to be happy about. Personally I can't help thinking a career in plumbing/tiling/plastering wouldn't have been a better career move.
I think you could be right. Now I'm the wrong side of 40 the outlook is not great and I noted, with interest, a 5 day hand plastering course advertised in the local paper.
For some reason I've never got on with plumbing despite having to install pipework for acetylene and hydrogen in an earlier career as a chemist. At least I saw the end of that career coming.

How much time went on that?
In actual man-hours I couldn't say. Maybe a week's work. The actul thing took months because I had so much other stuff going on.
