Tube, Tube, Tube

It seems it's all Tube, Tube, Tube in my life right now. Can't get away from it. If it's not for the fact that I've lost a week's pay thanks to their poor maintenance I am getting inundated with mail from you guys about all kinds of related bits.

First off, Ben Newman mailed to suggest I add myself to the list of LondonBloggers. So I did.

Ben also sent me a link to a piece of "art" by Simon Patterson called The Great Bear (detail). Apparently there is some kind of correlation between the people and the lines they appear on, but I can't work it out. If only the key were more visible, like on the version that James Jennet mailed me on the same day which links nicely with other things I've bored you all with lately.

Tube Music

Pushing the tenuous connections to the limits, here's an interview on theTube.com with Adrian Simpson. Huh? Well, he's the best-man at the wedding I am going to in Sri Lanka next month and thus "in charge" of the Stag weekend I am going on tomorrow. I am scared, very scared. If I don't return by early next week, call for help! Tell them I've been abducted by a bunch of crazy alcoholic lunatics.

And finally, I'll leave you with some words of wisdom from Peter Kay (probably the funniest man in the country at the moment) whose tour I am lucky enough to be going to see tonight:

  • Triangular sandwiches taste better than square ones.
  • You're never quite sure whether it's ok to eat green crisps.
  • Sharpening a pencil with a knife makes you feel really manly.
  • You always feel a bit scared when stroking horses.
  • The most embarrassing thing you can do as schoolchild is to call your teacher mum or dad.
  • Bricks are horrible to carry.
  • Driving through a tunnel makes you feel excited.

Update: Bricks really are horrible to carry if you're working in the snow like the man in the red hat in this picture building the "town houses" next door to us.

Snowman

Serves them right for waking me up every morning!

Incidentally, the white building in the corner is where Ealing Broadway Tube station is. Christ I'm bored!! Roll on 7 o'clock....

    One to add to that:

    Snow makes people excited.

It is heaving it down here...

  1. You can buy a poster of the Great Bear at Tate Modern (Blackfriars) or our library (worcester) does nice Tube wrapping paper for a few quid :-0

  2. C'mon jake, can't you get the overland train from ealing broadway and then the circle or metropolitan? Where are you working .... St Petersburg? ;-)

The London Underground is old and overcrowed. Took me over 2hrs to get to work. Bit of snow and this country falls to its feet!

I probably could find an alternate route but that would mean joining the other 650,000 people who use the Central line every day and are doing the same thing.

The fact that I have to spend 2 hours of every day getting to and from work is enough injustice without it taking even longer...

  3. With all this hassles of London Travelling, and the large amounts of London based Domino (ab)users, why don't we all meet up for a drink or three sometime? First round's on me.

Phil Spector in the middle of your crop... scary.

  4. The White building is where I work
