LDD is Beefy But Slow
A nice link that Noel Hendrikx wanted me to share with you all - http://webfx.eae.net/. They've got some nice menus there and their webboard looks nice too (almost as good as oddpost). The thing that always grabs my attention though is variations of the RichText editor. Must get round to playing with these more.
David Marsh was talking to me last night and got me addicted to Mozilla Mouse Gestures. Nice. Not sure I'll get the hang of view source which is left, down, right, down, left. Never was much good at arcade games.
If the LDD runs on such beefy hardware why is posting a response sooooooooooooooo slow!? (Note: that's a rhetorical question).
As I understand it, ldd is run as a beta testing ground where they put their daily builds of new versions of Domino. I would assume that if there is a bug fix going on that all server logging is enabled.
Also it's a bit of a lucky dip as to which server you connect to. It might be an old release (e.g. 5.0.2) or a completely new one (6.0.x).
At Lotusphere and DevCon they always have a session on how and why ldd is set up like it is, and they generally sound pretty convincing!
Jake,
I'm begging you...please please please take a look at the rich text edit control. I've been looking for a reliable web edit component for years...i think a lot of Domino developers feel the same.
For the View Source mouse gesture: Left, Down, Right, Down, Left. Think of it as an "S" for source. That helped me out.
Ferdy - I probably will but I wouldn't hold your breath.
bg - You're a genius. Worked first time and I can't see me forgetting that ;o)
Dear Ferdy,
there is a Domino version in the LDD sandbox. You should give it a try.
Regards
Heini
Heini,
Thank you so much! That was exactly what I needed.
For a more up to date version of the editor posted in the sandbox go to http://members.cox.net/ahurt/editor.html
Alan,
Thank you..that's even better! One question though, I'm trying the edit control now but there doesnt seem to be an add attachment feature. Is this correct?
LDD could be faster if it were programmed differently. Also, what's the deal with IBM using Dells?
There is a very worthy improvement on the DHTML Editor that was mentioned by Mike on NotesTips. I have already put it to good use. Certainly a major improvement over what I found on Notes.net. I have not see the update though.
