Link Preservation
Last month I spoke about the need to cater for all the links/bookmarks that include "A55692/store.nsf" in the URL if and when I make the move to PHP. Think I am just about there with the logic for the code needed. If you've never seen PHP feel free to have a look (if you know PHP feel free to comment on the code). Or just see it in action. Follow one of the links below and see how the URL gets redirected:
/A55692/store.nsf/unid/BLOG-20020824?OpenDocument
/A55692/store.nsf/all?OpenView&count=10
/A55692/store.nsf/unid/EPSD-5EQPZA?OpenDocument
Note that, in the code, part of the response sent is the HTTP Status Code 302 which tell the requesting agent that the resource has permanently moved to the new location. This is mainly to make it search engine friendly as it will (should?) update their records.
Okay, time for a stats update me thinks (Like anybody other than me cares). Back in July the average hits per day was 15,186. An increase on February when the average was 6,800. However, the average now is a whopping 24,341. I must be doing something right...
And to finish, here's a link to the bizarre. Rather Good has some warped stuff to pass the time. My favourite is the Punk Kittens doing White Stripes or Pavarotti expressing his love for elephants. You'll need sound to truly appreciate it.
Oh yeah, nearly forgot. I published another article today. Hope you like...
get kettle on jake i'm parched
With micropayments of 1/10 of an eurocent per page, you'd make a nice income. I'd be happy with half of that for some comments I have posted.
I have a (probably) stupid question...I hope one of you can enlighten me. I've heard rumours about native support for PHP in Domino R6, but I can't remember where I read it. Is this true? Or do I still need a separate Apache/PHP server? The reason I ask is because I'm very interested in implementing the PHP bulletin board software on my own server. Thanks in advance, Ferdy. Jake, keep up the good work!
News to me Ferdy. Let me see what I can find out though...
Thanks, Jake. I did some searching myself, here's something i found. Rumour. Since it is news for you, it will probably be an illusion :( snif!
Ferdy. I found a few references but the most resounding seems to be Ed Brill's in his interview on DominoZone.net (see question 6). Maybe Rune knows more...
Well for Domino 6 support PHP I've been following the trail for quite a long time, as far as I seen it should work well with a CGI Version of PHP (what the R6 Admin doc tells)which is not quite what you expect from PHP on a Linux Platform, upon the time Domino 6 was In beta I saw words it would support "the replacement of the HTTP Stack" by Apache but if you look at the Gold Version seems Apache got left behind completly behind and it does only support IBM HTTP Server on AIX and IIS on Windows NT/2000, so far so sad
Do you chaps know this ? http://www.junkheap.net/projects/phpdom/
It is probably not quite what you are looking for, but it may help anyways.
Thanks Jan-Piet Mens! That's an excellent article! i'm gonna try this stuff tonight at my own box. Btw, are you dutch too;)
Kind regards, Ferdy
I got the configuration in that article working almost seemlessly. Brilliant. (PHP 4, Apache 2, Domino 5.0.9 and Windows 2000 Server)
I think Jan-Piet is Dutch, yes.
He is, but don't try postings in Dutch :-) I lost most of it long ago...
Any of you Dutchmen going to The View conference next week?!?
Yes Ben,
My co-worker is gonna be there. He will report back to us and give us the promotion material like the View CD-ROM and stuff. I'll let you know if I can share anything without breaking copyright laws ;)
I'm afraid I can't go to the conference.
