Books and Linux
The postman delivered two books this morning. That should keep me from staring at the shoes of my fellow Tube travellers for a while yet.
Will Linux ever make it to the corporate desktop? I don't think so. It's just too geeky. Now, I like to think I'm fairly clued-up when it comes to PCs and their generals working, but I still find myself pulling my hair out as I try and do the most basic things on Linux PCs. Not only that but it has that look that just says "written by gamers" all over it. The kind of people who think that a good logo for a web-browser is the head of a red dinosaur!

IMHO, a very flawed argument. I can't see Linux making it to the corporate desktop. Or that of the more casual home user for that matter...
No, but Lindows might since Walmart are now selling new machines with it on. I tried it & it installs in 5 minutes (literally). Staying with windows though since want an easy(er) life.

Nah, I use Mozilla exclusively (at home anyway). If you want a decent theme, this is the only one you can possibly go for:

Theres a new new Linux "Windows" port called Lycorix available at the moment. http://www.lycoris.com/
Its pretty amazing - completely XP in look and feel - has all the same features that the average corporate user would expect to find. Definately a contender for the corp. environment. Were testing it at the moment and its doing well.

Interesting -- especially given how they've quietly got this thing out there (as compared with the hullabaloo when Lindows was announced.)

I disagree. I think Linux will make it to the corporate desktop. In fact, RedHat have announced that they are going to start producing a corporate desktop distro early next year. Most of the other distros as well would run fine on the desktop.
I use Mandrake at home and most of the mjor office suites that come ready with the distro are compatable with MS.
As for it look, friends of mine keep remarking about my really cool windows theme and ask where they can get a copy.
