Getting text renditions of rich text items in Java classes
The following properties and methods render rich text items as plain text. Font styles and other formatting elements are lost. Rich text elements that cannot be converted to plain text, such as attachments, are lost.
Document.getItemValueString
returns the text content of a rich text item as a value of type String.
Item.getText
returns the text content of a rich text item as a value of type String.
Item.getValueString
returns the text content of a rich text item as a value of type String.
Item.abstractText
returns the abbreviated text content of a rich text item as a value of type String.
RichTextItem.getFormattedText
returns the text content of a rich text item as a value of type String, allowing you to wrap the text and strip tabs.
RichTextItem.getUnformattedText
returns the text content of a rich text item as a value of type String.
